ICOS: Towards a Functional Continuum Operating System

Technical manager, autonomous farm-robot software developer · Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznań Institute of Technology

Overview

ICOS is an EU Horizon Europe project that designed a meta operating system (metaOS) spanning IoT, edge and cloud. At Łukasiewicz PIT, Iman built the project's autonomous farm-robot use case and resilient edge-to-cloud communication for agricultural robots.

Iman's work

  • Technical manager for the agricultural use case at Łukasiewicz PIT.
  • Agricultural use case: the AgroRob autonomous field robot, onboarded to the ICOS Alpha release (Nuvla edge deployment, ICOS telemetry and VPN agents), as described in the GIECS 2024 chapter.
  • Designed a dual-link robot-to-cloud communication framework: LoRa for control and monitoring, Wi-Fi with Zenoh for bulk data, and local storage when connectivity drops.
